Aloha — You are not alone.
CARE Hawaii Inc Adult IOP offers intensive outpatient mental health treatment right here in Wailuku — grounded in evidence, shaped by compassion, and tailored to the unique rhythms of island life.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides structured, evidence-based treatment that fits around your responsibilities — work, family, and community — while giving you the tools to build lasting wellness.
Facilitated by licensed clinicians, our groups create a safe space to share, learn, and grow alongside others who understand. Topics include coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse prevention, and building healthy relationships.
One-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist to explore personal triggers, develop a tailored treatment plan, and work through the unique challenges that brought you to treatment.
Morning, evening, and weekend sessions available so you can maintain employment, care for family, and attend treatment — because recovery shouldn't require you to pause your entire life.
Structured programming for adults navigating alcohol or drug recovery, combining motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and peer support to strengthen your foundation for sobriety.
Evidence-based care for depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. We treat the whole person — not just symptoms — with approaches grounded in clinical best practices.
Recovery doesn't end when IOP does. We help you build a sustainable aftercare plan — connecting you with ongoing resources, support groups, and community services in Maui County.
CARE Hawaii Inc Adult IOP was founded on a simple conviction: that every person deserves access to compassionate, high-quality mental health treatment — right where they live.
Located on North Market Street in the heart of Wailuku, our program serves adults across Maui County who are navigating substance use, mental health challenges, or the intersection of both. We understand the unique cultural and geographic realities of island life — and we honor them in our approach.
Our team brings together licensed clinicians, certified counselors, and peer support specialists who share a deep commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care. This is not a one-size-fits-all program. Each person who walks through our doors is met with respect, dignity, and a genuine desire to walk alongside them.
Recovery is not linear, and neither is our process. We meet you where you are and walk with you through every stage.
Call us or fill out our contact form. We'll listen without judgment and help you understand your options. There is no pressure — only a conversation.
We begin with a thorough clinical assessment to understand your history, strengths, and goals. This shapes a treatment plan built just for you.
Join our IOP sessions — group therapy, individual counseling, and psychoeducation — on a schedule that works with your life. Progress at your pace.
As you build skills and confidence, we help you transition to lower levels of care — or continue in IOP as long as you need it. Your wellness is the priority.
"When I first walked through those doors, I had no idea what recovery looked like. The team at CARE Hawaii didn't just treat me — they saw me. They gave me a community, tools I still use every day, and the belief that I could build a life worth living."

An IOP is a structured mental health and substance use treatment program that provides multiple hours of therapy per week — typically 9–20 hours — without requiring overnight stay. It sits between inpatient care and standard outpatient, offering more support than traditional therapy while allowing you to live at home.
Our Adult IOP serves adults (18 and older) who are struggling with substance use, mental health concerns, or both. If you are not in crisis and have a safe place to return to each evening, IOP may be the right level of care. We'll discuss this in detail during your initial assessment.
We accept a range of insurance plans. Please call us at (808) 479-7956 and we will verify your benefits and explain your coverage before you begin treatment. We also discuss self-pay and sliding-scale options.
Duration varies based on individual needs. Some clients complete a standard 8–12 week program, while others benefit from longer engagement. Your clinician will review progress regularly and adjust the plan with you — there is no rush, and no arbitrary deadline.
Yes — it is completely normal. Reaching out takes courage, and it is okay to feel apprehensive. Our team is here to make your first steps as comfortable as possible. There is no obligation when you call; we simply listen and help you understand what comes next.
You don't have to navigate this alone. Reach out by phone, email, or by visiting our office in Wailuku. We're here for you.
